Josh guarding the aisle in the bus.
Sandy is ready to lead ABB across the stage.
Byron gets the CSD flag ready for the parade.
It's a VERY impressive place!
Our seats are towards the top of that back section.
Some guys pose with our banner just before the parade.
Some more guys take their turn.
Again, it is a truly awesome place.
CSD lead the parade (how did Byron pull that off?)
Now the ABB banner enters the stage.
I don't recall that any other choruses had this large of a banner!
Of course the CSD party included KC, quartet reps, some AOH guys and more.
A close-up (he was a long ways away, this is the best my zoom could handle).
I couldn't stop taking pictures of it!
The guys from Sweden are semi-crazy! A lot of fun.
Here are the guys from Sweden on the screen.
Here is the entrance we've been using for the LDS Conference Center.
Another impressive building downtown (south of the Conference Center).
They set up a series of tents across the street for food.
I saw this from the bus on the way back to the hotel. It's somewhere downtown.
Bemo has MANY stories about his trip out to Salt Lake.
More equipment -- we shared trailers with the Heart of America.
Lots of stuff to be unloaded.
Another hint for Bemo's story.
It was a LOOONNNGGG shuttle ride over to the LDS Conference Center for Opening Ceremonies - not because it was so far, just because the route was so weird. It would have been faster to walk.
The emcee for the Opening Ceremonies is down on the stage. The organist is at his console and the rest speaks for itself.
The organist played during the entire parade. Songs included a lot of movie scores, many that sounded slightly out of place on an organ -- the Rocky team, Jaws, Star Wars and much more.
He finished with the last section of the Star Spangled Banner - very impressive. At one point, he made an arm motion to prove he wasn't using his hands, and was still impressive with just his feet. During the applause for him (the organist), he acknowledged the organ!
And it's hard to tell, but our guys are in the seats below the screen.
Now I'm in my real seat, beyond where my camera can capture can get a good pic.
Of course, they do a nice job following the action on the screens. This one is very handy for us to see from our seats.
3 Men did a great job and were a hit with the crowd.
As large as it is, they have done a nice job of making it all feel somewhat normal.
This building was especially beautiful lit up at night.
It appears to be a VERY big no-no to sell anything inside the LDS Conference Center, so this is a way to have a handy place to eat. Good food (including Angus burgers) at a somewhat decent price, considering the monopoly they have!
This was on top of an arch across a street. Just took a quick picture (from inside the bus) because it looked cool.
More details and pictures later!
