2nd Place by just 9
points!
The Voices of America (formerly known as the American BarberBoys) made
their debut at the 2005 Central States District fall convention in Des Moines,
Iowa. Out of 1,800 possible points, the Voices of America placed 2nd to the
district champion chorus, Heart of America from Kansas City.
It was a great weekend in Des Moines and the chorus is very proud of our
performance -- and we know we have more work to do!
Update...WE'RE IN!
Now that all districts have competed, we have received a wild-card bid (we
accepted!) to the 2006
International Convention in Indianapolis next July. More details as they
become available, after the first of the year.

It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a
wonderful barbershopper, Bob Kellogg. Bob was a long-time member of St. Joseph's
Pony Expressmen and the American BarberBoys. Bob passed away at 6:00am
Friday September 16th; his funeral -- a wonderful celebration of a man's life --
was Tuesday the 20th.
Here is the text of Byron's
email regarding Bob; it speaks well of Bob's contribution to our
community...
To all Singers:
It is with great sadness that I send the news that Bob Kellogg, long time
dedicated barbershopper, New Generation Singer sponsor and friend, has
passed away early this morning.

 |
Those
of us who knew him saw an example of dedication and fortitude that should
be a model for us all. Many times he did not feel up to rehearsals or
other normal activities, but he persevered and held in high regard the
opportunity to sing with son Dan and grandson Joseph. The BarberBoys gave
him that opportunity and he, in return, gave the BarberBoys all he had to
give.
I have known Bob since I was around 15, but really got to "know him" with
the forming of a barbershop chorus in St. Joseph, in late 1957, early 58.
In all that time I have never known him to be any less dedicated to his
family, his work, his friends or his hobby. He was one of my heroes.
While I believe that, in heaven, Bob will be happily reunited with
Paulette and that his disease will be taken from him, but.... I will still
miss him.
Farewell Bob...thanks for all you gave us, your optimistic and
enthusiastic example. We are thankful for your time with us and I am truly
grateful to have known you.
I extend my sympathies to the Kellogg family and hope you will do the
same.
